ccal camp

wow. i totally appreciate singapore with all its cleanliness and greenery and roads and general lack of mud. seriously, sitting on nice hard concrete is so much better than sitting on squishy wet mud. gross xD

so i've learnt a whole lot from this camp than from any others. it's pretty much really memorable, packed full with meaningful activities and discussion sessions. im from subgroup d6, which is the very very last group of the whole camp. they always say they leave the best for the last ^^" there were 11 members in my group, with 4 from council, 3 of us from clubs and societies, 4 from sports. 5 girls and 6 guys. one of them had to go back for math olympiad so he didn't get to join us for the 2nd night and third day ):

we had mr faizad and mr se as our teacher ics! they're really quite nice ppl, and there were quite a few j2/j3 facilitators who would be station ics along the way, guiding us on our journey through the camp. there were even some j5s who came back to help out!

there were about 250 of us going, about 100 from council and the rest were ccals. only chair and vice-chairs of ccas are supposed to go lah, but some ppl couldn't go so there can be replacements etc. we went to bintan, indonesia, at nirwana gardens resort. nope not in the resort. we only get to look, not use and enjoy the facilities of the resort >.<

our campsite was called camp able. no it's not as campable as it sounds xD it's right across from nirwana gardens resort with all its beautiful chalets and beaches, with lily ponds and water fountains, and periwinkle flowers and all. perfect holiday paradise, and we're not allowed to enter the resort at all. we were tagged with orange wrist bands that once clipped on, can never be removed (unless torn off), so we're identified as campers who are not allowed into the resort. some random guys tore it off though! they like to act macho lahh

they're not supposed to be allowed into the campsite without the tags, but apparently the security guards weren't doing their job properly! gahh.

the food at bintan is really bad. they stuff us with plenty of rice, like double the portion of rice i usually eat, and measly amounts of veggie and some meat. they like to give us chicken legs either in curry, or in some gravy sauce, or something lah. u know how difficult it is to balance your chicken leg, insanely huge chunks of rice, and random pieces of curry veggie or cabbage on some flimsy piece of brown paper with only your legs to keep it from dropping into the muddy ground? on the last day of camp, the lunch was baddd. the only nice thing was the fish, which i DROPPED! FREAKING DROPPED! onto the soil! i was like AHHH! i was salvaging the rice to keep it from dropping onto the ground, and the fish dropped off instead. sadd. i got so fed up i just packed everything up and threw it away. no appetite lah, wasn't hungry at all.

but for the past few meals, i finished every single bit and piece of food, rice grain and chicken they gave us. they were edible lah, but just tasted bleh >.< worse still, the food was usually cold, and so tasted even worse. the very first thing i ate when i got out of camp was wonderful ICECREAM! hee my favourite food of all time. xD i feel like splurging myself on food after suffering on 4 days of lousy food.

there's always chilli involved in EVERY single meal, regardless of breakfast, lunch or dinner. and i don't like chilli! like there's even chilli powder on the fried rice for breakfast lah please. we had stale kway teow which tasted rubbery for our first breakfast oso. i think it's on purpose to make us suffer the hardships of lousy food >.<

so yeah, we did some team bonding to find out more about my groupmates. not bad, my group quite lucky to have a lot of rather fit ppl who can help carry stuffs ^^ hee...and my group is pretty enthu lah, so not bad. this camp is really different from many other camps, bcos we are all ccals, so all of us can take initiative and have the capabilities to lead. so there's always ppl willing to volunteer and take the lead, which is kindof bad for me oso lah, bcos i end up taking the back seat and don't feel like taking the lead anymore. there's always some others who are taking the lead which really deprives us of the chance to shine...hmm.

then it rained and all, so our schedule got pushed back. we then went out for camping out in some ulu area of indonesia, so we trekked all the way there with our packs and carrying all the tents, pots and stoves, one big watermelon, one tray of 21 eggs (haha we had an egg carrier, the poor person who has to balance her way all the way to the campsite), and there was the kerosene and grounsheets etc. pretty heavy and tiring lah, esp since it just rained, the road was wet and muddy.

my group, group d was the unluckiest to have gotten the worst campsite of all. the whole place was pretty much muddy and gross, and we had to pitch our tents and cook on the same ground. we had the groundsheet though, but we still had to do it all in the dark. it was dark by the time we reached the campsite, and there was a shortage of torchlights so we had trouble trying to cook and chop veggies and pitching tents and set up fire etc in the dark. that place was surrounded by forest, and had no lamps nor any light at all.

after a pretty successful cooking of dinner, which tasted pretty much similar to our class camp's, they attempted cooking steamed egg with the leftover eggs but xD it was pretty much too hard and rubbery. i think not enough water leh. haha nvm it was a guy initiative so not too bad. a pity we didn't have more time, or we could have tried frying the veggie and eggs. ^^ hmm we then slept in our tents lor, with random rocks poking into our backs grr. should have chosen a less rocky and a flatter area. then again, it's the same all over that campsite so no choice ): oh yeah we didn't bathe haha, bcos no toilets. we answered the call of nature in nature (ie. random bushes). xP

it was so dark there that i saw many, many stars. gosh, it was the most number of stars i've ever seen in my life! so beautiful, so many...there were so many constellations and stars that i couldn't identify at all! what a pity, for i felt they were so pretty and alive that they should have a name to them all. bleh my prac astro really sucks, and i didn't have sikai or amyas in my group so cannot get them to teach me! sigh. i could only identify big dipper haha. it was super obvious.

next morning we woke at 3.30am, packed everything and left campsite by 4.30am, and we reached early back at camp able around 5.20am. yep we got praised bcos we were really efficient and organised even though we suffered the worst and furthest campsite and all ^^" not bad lah, i didn't feel very tired bcos it was good exercise walking and singing with the group. ok more like only me and another two guys singing but nvm. dunno y ppl didn't want to sing.

we pitched tents back at camp able, and then set off for rafting. we tried building a raft with limited amounts of fake money to "buy" barrels, bamboo poles, paddles, extra ropes, canoes, etc. we're supposed to use the raft and travel about 100 metres out to sea and back, all as a group with our group ic. in the end our raft fell apart lah, but we're supposed to learn about teamwork and communication. also we must have a good plan and vision, about how our raft will be like, so we can work on it together to fulfill our goals. similarly for our respective ccas, we must have the goal in mind, to inspire a shared vision, and to MAKE the changes we want to see.

we then went on to reforestation at some ulu fishing village in indonesia. seriously, the travelling time took up way more time than anything else lah. the bus trip there took about one and a half hours, then we still had to transport mangrove seedlings (which are 10 years old!), from the nursery. then we took boats and travelled out to sea and into the mangrove area. it was unfortunately high tide, so there was water everywhere in the mangroves, and it took another hour or so to get to our mangrove planting site.

we then had to enter the waist-deep water with treacherous mud underneath, so u must be careful where u step so u won't sink in. uh obviously the water so dirty and muddy we couldn't see where and what we were stepping on so i sank down a few times, it's quite terrible bcos u must keep your shoes on properly or you might lose them when you get stuck in the mud trying to pull your leg out. yah my shoe almost fell off when i pulled my leg out of the mud! >.< my partner stayed behind to help all the ppl get from the boat to the planting area, so i stayed back as well and gave out the seedlings from the boat.

i realised that im really clumsy! like i was standing perfectly fine in the mud passing out the seedlings, then i would somehow just topple over and lose my balance and i fell flat on my butt. so i ended up with water up to chest and my hands and legs BOTH muddy. imagine me sitting down in the water and mud. >.< gross.

yeah and i planted like 7 seedlings! me is happy. it's not as easy as it seems, bcos u must first get used to the mud and know which areas are good for planting, and how deep to do it. but some of my seedlings got submerged in the water! i hope they survive fine and well...imagine they have lived for 10 WHOLE years and they die just bcos you didn't plant them properly here. such great responsibility...

it's the same thing with us leaders. the seedlings are like our members of the cca, we shape their personalities and directly impact their lives with what we do. we need to take good care of them and ensure that they grow straight and tall into beautiful mangrove trees that can live on their own. they are following us, and expecting us to lead them on, so we must always do our best no matter what. imagine we spent 3 hours just to get there, to do this planting which takes less than 40 minutes! if you anyhow do it, aren't u wasting all your previous efforts just to travel into the mangrove? all that you have done go down the drain! so we should always be responsible for our members, for our seedlings, and plant them properly. ^^

yeah it was gross dirty and disgusting, but it's a good experience. experiences are what you get when you don't get what you want. they serve to build us up and let us learn from our mistakes...

that night, we had adventure quest. there were 12 stations to be completed, and we were given an impossible timeframe of 1 and a half hours! our group managed to complete only 7 stations, but it's quite good le! the best group finished 9 stations! a few finished 8 and most groups finished less. we were given a map and once we completed each station, we were shown where the next station would be on a map. we would then have to navigate there in the darkness equipped with only torchlights and the map, and our lousy navigating skills. luckily we had a scoutboy in my group so he could navigate quite well! hee...we mostly didn't get lost except for a few stations which were really tricky and difficult to find.

we had to describe a picture with a square, circle, and some triangle shapes without using those words like squares, circles, triangles etc and one person from our group would have to draw based on what we say. so yeah we ended up saying things like "draw an orange, and a box around it! the box has the same diameter as the orange, then at the two minor arcs of the orange at the side, draw two diagnonal lines out" etc etc xD

it was quite good! the guy drew almost what was on the picture, except one of the lines were like opposite way round, but it's really good! amazing ^^ our communication skills not bad.

there were stations with no one there, so it's just a paper with a lightstick, saying congratulations, you have completed station __, please proceed to the next station here. haha we feel so cheated >.< another station required us to direct a blindfolded member to find a set of keys which was hidden under a tree lah! haha we ended up with 3 keys, which we had to keep.

oh yes each group got some lego blocks pieced together to form odd shapes. at the end of the quest, i was the group ic for that day, so i submitted our lego block piece. i predicted that these lego blocks would form our school crest, and indeed my prediction was right! there were numbers on the back as instructions for where to piece the blocks together, but it was still very difficult bcos there were 24 pieces and we had to be careful not to break any blocks off. it was difficult to tell oso lah! the whole camp was waiting for us to finish, but we were still stuck, so the teacher came in and told us to stop, that it's ok. but we refused and begged for another 5 minutes. we kept on trying and in the end we managed to piece it all together!

it was beautiful. amazing. unbelievable. there were more than 1000 lego blocks with every single detail of the crest, and it was even 3D. the ccal camp had been organised for 4 years alrd, and this time was the first time the crest managed to be pieced together by us ccals! our seniors couldn't manage to do it. indeed, it was really difficult bcos sometimes the blocks were misplaced, or not enough time, or some groups didn't manage to hand in their lego blocks on time. we came together to make something, and we succeeded for the first time! yay ^^

the pe teacher who came up with this idea is really ingenious, he spent months creating that masterpiece, and i must say im really impressed. proo. he must be really good with legos.

later on the winning group of the whole quest got a box chained with 12 locks on it, so we realised that we all had the keys. every few groups who went to the station would have gotten the keys, so we pooled our keys together and tried them all. a lot of them were dummy keys lah, didn't fit, but in the end we managed to work together as a whole camp and opened 11 locks. the last lock just cannot open lah, then some smart girl simply lifted the lid and slid it off the chains xD hahaha and tada the box was opened! there were a lot of oreos and marshmallows etc haha. they shared with all of us lah which was really nice ^^

i think this activity really is quite interesting and cool haha.

camp able's ground was so much more comfy than the previous night's one, with grass to cushion the back instead of random rocks. however i still ached all over lah =P haha missed my home bed!

day 3 of the camp dawned clear and bright, we went on the leadership journey. our mission was to rescue a casualty who had what broken legs and all, stuck on some island called rawa. we were given a compass and a map, and we were to paddle in a dragon boat to rawa island. uh yeah and they only allowed 5 PADDLES for a 300 kg boat, with 14 ppl on it. can u believe it! those poor 5 ppl who have to paddle so hard >.< i was lucky bcos i was sitting in front, mostly helping to navigate and counting time (1-2, 1-2, 1-2...) i got thirsty the fastest with all that counting xP

they cheated us lor, rawa wasn't really an island! it was connected to the mainland at low tide, so we almost went to the wrong place lah, luckily we decided that our compass wouldn't be lying to us, so it should be there even though it's not an island. since it was low tide, we couldn't beach onshore, so we didn't need to go onto rawa. apaprently the "casualty" was supposed to be our group ic who was with us, and we would have to transport him onto our boat by some means. the way was for 4 ppl to form the chair and carry him down onto the boat haha...luckily we didn't need to do that ^^

we then had to navigate to checkpoint 2 to get "medical supplies" for the "casualty", somewhere on a beach far far away and behind a kelong >.< everyone took turns padding. when we were reaching, we were saboed with random scenarios, like we had to get a small girl from our group to steer the boat instead of the boatman, and then we had to turn back to another island to get the "medical supplies" etc. bleh, was tired out b4 we even reached! then we had to race the other 5 dragonboats!

in the end our group won with our technique of slow and steady, glide the boat, with 100% in every single stroke, and teamwork. everyone has to follow the counting by the person, and paddle at the same time as one. if everyone paddles at different times, it would slow the boat considerably. so this illustrates the importance of teamwork, and sharing a common vision. one of my group members very funny, he wanted to go toilet from the moment he got onto the boat, so he was very inspired to paddle hard, so that we could reach our destination quickly for him to pee xD in the end when we finally reached, that place had NO TOILET! he ended up doing it in the sea T.T oh well.

then it RAINED ahhh! and our schedule got pushed back again. we set off later and we had to build a stretcher with given materials to carry a 30kg heavy load called freddie (yes, freddie. =X) to a checkpoint for medical supplies, then another checkpoint for communication. then apparently we still had to go find mr tan after that. we were given a gps, and the coordinates. the gps only showed the direction of our destination, so we didn't know how to go lah. we just followed the road. the guys carried the super heavy stretcher and refused to let us girls carry haha. they didn't want us to get tired and diee, when there was still AT LEAST 4 hours of trekking ahead of us T.T they're quite nice yah..

so here begins the most memorable and difficult activity of the camp: wakatobi forest trail.

we had 2.5km+ in a straight line to our first checkpoint, so we followed the road at first, and then we made a right turn for this trail, when technically we shouldn't have T.T

we then reached some dead end, with two choices of either turning into a swamp, or another unknown trail. we chose the unknown trail and since it just rained, it was all muddy and slippery. we had to jump over several drains a lot of times, and i slipped and sank into mud like 3 times!! there goes my other pair of shoes. >.< thus i conclude im very, very clumsy indeed. garhhh.

it was very tiring and both physically and mentally exhausting. i was carrying just the bags and was alrd tired. imagine the poor guys! they took turns carrying the heavy stretcher, and had to stop a lot of times. they had to maneuver their way through the trees and over the drains, and they ended up with blisters on their hands! they had to wrap their hands with plaster to protect them, and they didn't even complain, nor shirk responsibility. im really thankful they were there.

we had no idea how to get to our checkpoint; it was only 800m away when we first entered the trail, but it took over 2 hours just to reach it! we were totally half an hour late for that first checkpoint, so technically freddie's dead for half an hour alrd ):

we were totally hating freddie by then haha, but the group ic we had was nice and decided not to add weight to our stretcher, bcos technically, if our load were dead, it was supposed to weigh heavier. after finding our first checkpoint, we were told we could bury freddie! it was just some gunny sack with 30kg soil in it, bleh. we just poured it onto the ground and left it.

so now the stretcher is much lighter, and the girls can finally help. the stretcher by itself was rather heavy though, with wooden poles and heavy canvas. the trail was also slippery and with stones and branches all over, which made things really difficult. seriously, we should have dismantled the stretcher there and then so everyone could carry a pole each or something, but we didn't think it would take as long to find the 2nd checkpoint! it was only 800m+ away! we had a biscuit break, and set off once again with renewed hope!

unfortunately, we tried following the tributaries, but couldn't get out, so we decided to bash our way through the trees with about 400m+ to go. another first, bashing through the forest where there is no trail. when you read those adventure stories, you read about them getting lost and bashing through trees and slipping into mud, and u didn't quite feel much for them. wait till it happens to you, then you can really understand the extent of it. T.T

uhh yeah we ended up getting quite lost, bcos we reached dead ends on both sides of a tributary, and we could hear buses and vehicles up there! there was a rather steep slope of forest, approximately 100m+ to go from our 2nd checkpoint! we had to decide what to do, being so near to the road, but it was getting dark soon. if we got stuck in the forest, we would be in deep trouble.

for the first time, i really felt very very tired, lost, and hopeless. there was nothing we could do that would be desirable! and this is leadership. leadership is not just a set of personality characteristics we can learn, but rather it is what a leader does when faced with adversities, during contingencies. the decisions we make. how calm we are. how we work together as a team. how we encourage each other. this is when we learn, and when we finally can display our capabilities to adapt.

in the end we turned back and found another better trail, which we bashed our way through, out of the forest and onto the road! FINALLY. we saw light at the end of the forest. it was really amazing, the feeling of being back on solid ground again, of the hope and strength returning, that we're alive! we've survived through it! we're out of that treacherous forest. from that very moment on, i know i would love singapore forever. to be able to live in such a safe and comfortable environment all this while, and not appreciate it all. to not understand how lucky we really are until you've gone through the forest.

yeah we're the last group (duh we took so many detours and all), so we just headed back for another 1km or so along the road, trudging along. we're all tired, but we've all taken away something from that trek.

haha we record time bathe and got ready and everything within 15 min! we needed to prepare for the campfire that night. it was pretty enjoyable, with WONDERFUL food! the best food ever in the whole camp. there was a buffet with satay, beehoon and fried rice. there was pasta, watermelon, fruits, chicken wing, etc! haha and nice drinks!

we sat on the beach and had the campfire. each main group performed something, then we sang songs and joined hands around the fire. it was the biggest fire i've ever seen, with towering flames that leap high into the sky, and i was thinking how environmentally unfriendly it was! all the work we've done for reforestation was cancelled out by just this one big fire haha xP

then we went back to singapore by ferry lah. we were telling each other ghost stories on board haha xD it was rather freaky though! even in broad daylight! im glad i don't get sea-sick easily haha. so, HOME SWEET HOME! singapore <33

sorry for putting you all through this long and arduous post, but there's still much more about the camp not mentioned here. i just feel that i need to put this down somewhere, to share my wonderful and memorable experiences at the camp with you all. i've learnt many, many lessons and made a lot of new friends at the camp! i hope i've improved both as a person and leader, and that i would be able to put to good use what i've taken away from the camp. yepp

i'll upload pics once my fren sends me them. (:

my holidays is packed full with loads to do, like nus-ntu, jap club, and pw, not to mention mugging for upcoming cts! i still need to play with my bro, go out with friends, and everything else! so yah happy hols everyone!

astrofest!

yep yep finally blogging after dunno how long. loads of things have been happening so far, like jap club sessions finally can dun care for now, astro stuff over, and bridge comp is over (we got 3rd in consols! that's not bad kkk)

haha yeah blog about astrofest.

hmm it was better than i expected in several ways. for one, it's got a lot more interaction with other groups, and pretty fun. like u don't actually need to know so much about astro stuff to do well! (yes seriously. i guess it's a flaw in the comp as well >.<)

haha our group owned at scrabble, especially with the word jovian. we got a record-breaking 48 points for that! like double letter for two letters, then triple word, so we broke the record! what's more, we wanted to form zeeman with 10 points for the z but didn't have a n ): but we formed aurorae and beehive and a lot of astro words. hee it was pretty much my work but not bad! we got 225 points in the end (:

picture for you - the epic record-breaking win:

Deimos, Beehive, Jovian, Aurorae, Apogee, Polaris and Helix were our words. the rest were the other team's. Astrofest was the given beginning word haha.

i guess i had a knack for identifying words from the letters. oh yes and adrita she had lucky hands! she always took letters which formed nice astro words.

hmm we won 4 games and drew at 2, which = no loss at all! we broke sikai's team's winning streak >.< we won the darts game with a lucky coin! the qns were either true or false, so we flipped the coin 3 times to decide the answer. the coin kept telling us the same answer so we decided to go with it and true enough, the coin was right! that was pretty scary, and it happened twice la haha. sorry sikai and pan xP

pyramid round was noisy. i think they shouldn't let both teams play at once, bcos u can't hear what your team members are telling you and it's too noisy lah. ended up with everyone shouting over the noise T.T they should make the groups do one by one i guess, if that's possible. bleh. but still the pyramid list we looked through in the morning helped! haha

pictionary was really close, i think we drew for that one. (eh pun not intended haha). the other group was hci, they were actually quite good. the words i had to draw were cosmic rays. i drew rays, but i didn't know how to draw cosmic. then engwei totally saved my life! he was like rays? cosmic rays! i was super amazed. dunno how he thought of that. later on, he actually drew a bra and numbers to illustrate penumbra! >.< we were all HUH -blur-. dlu managed to guess it though! hahahaa

pic id was baddd. like we didn't know a lot of the pictures, but we knew the saturn's rings one! but the other group shouted stop a split second b4 us ): in the end we drew even though we could have won haha.

the wheel game was weird with umm. not very good graphics. ya and the needle thingy just kept landing in between two pies. like between bankrupt and 4 points for us! luckily we argued our way out and the student i/c decided to spin again. in the end we won. but seriously, "the world is round"?? poor dlu got it like super fast and he nv realised there was a L, so he went the earth is round! in the end the other group got it right bcos of him. :/

uhhh then there was the fair, which was ok i guess. the first judge was super impatient with our project and simply dismissed whatever we said. like it's not impt ): i don't think she liked our project much, but it's ok haha. the other two judges were ok bah, we just did our best and uh yah. considering that our project was really ill-prepared and not good enough, there isn't much to expect. amyas and cx are pro la, and sikai's group just reused nus-ntu haha. i should have joined his team when he asked me to join >.< then no need do new project and can free-ride all the way XD ! bleh

i feel super sad for amyas and cx, bcos they should have gotten into finals instead of us! we're just there by luck or something (see above. we didn't quite need much astro knowledge to do well?) it really depends on the other team u have in your group, and also your opponent for each game u see! hmmmmm at least we had a positive score xD eh seriously we knew several of the answers and it's always pan who buzzed in a split second b4 us. stupid pan i shall poke him to death next time. -pokess-

oh the worst thing was that very first qn? mcauliffe? i KNEW the answer!!!!!!! like i studied challenger disaster in p6, and i RMBED her, but when u put one whole long string of first names and middle names in front i just didn't recognise it! i should have looked more closely and at the last name. i kept thinking she was some pro astronomer that i wouldn't know at all. >.<

she was that first female teacher to be sent into space but she died in the challenger tragedy in 1986. like all her students were cheering for her and stuff, then they watched the challenger explode. super sad la ): that was actually what i rmbed, and her face. and of course i rmbed mcauliffe but i didn't rmb sharon christa corrigan?

and well yes the whole thing was just bad la. i must really thank engwei and dlu for being nice enough teammates! and the other team from bpteam 2! haha yeah bp! but amazingly they weren't as pro as i thought >.< but yeah they're pretty funny and friendly. they had one member who nv joined astro comps b4, and we had engwei and dlu who didn't join any astro comps b4. amazing we got into finals eh!

thus i conclude from the past 3 terrible finals experiences that i should actually mug for astro comps. and stop thinking that getting into finals is impossible T.T blaws! let's mug hard for nus-ntu k! -ok i shall start mugging when im free. like june hols.-

yep so congrats to sikai and pan! u two really rock! totally deserved that first place ^^ too bad you didn't get the green laser you wanted xD
well done rgs! second is REALLY good! and amyas and cx as well, so sorry you two didn't get into finals >.< but at least you got a merit award. :/ bad substitute but still good nonetheless...

so i feel astrofest is quite interesting, bcos i do know that the ppl put in a lot of effort into it to make it different ^^" and yeah it was really quite different. (like u don't need much astro knowledge to do well?!?) uh yes fine haha and it was fun la, more fun than most other astro comps. so i guess it was a job well done! no matter how bad you may feel about it, it's over and you've done your best k? nothing more you can do about it, so look at the things well done, and not so much at the things badly done yepp.

oh yeah im hosting a jap student this friday to sunday. she studies in singapore at the japanese school wasade shibuya senior high school, and she's been here for 2 years alrd so her english should be quite ok. i have no idea where to bring her around though. ideas anyone? she's called watanabe mio and she plays tennis too! im happy. ^^

and im going for ccal camp, 26th to 29th may, so don't miss me! let's hope it will be fun (:

other upcoming events include: econs makeup today. pw. gp ct. nus-ntu astrochallenge! mugmugmug for CTs!!!!!!!! -chiong ahh!-

free cone day!

heya! haven't been blogging for a while, so just popped by to say, today's ben & jerry's free cone day!

in short, u get free ice-cream at almost all ben & jerry outlets as long as you're willing to queue ^^ and i got my first ben & jerry's icecream! It's pretty good, so i guess i'll be patronising them in the future XD their advertising and promotion really worked (on me at least) heh.

uh yeah. I LOVE ICECREAM! ok i finally declared my <3 for you, dear darling icecream. hee.

ok fine i shall blog on a bit more, uh i've been really busy these days -who isn't?- with jap club stuff and all. so we went to suntec city on sat to prepare for jap club farewell and yeah, it's going to be tmr! hope it goes fine and all goes well and everyone has fun.

sigh there's still one whole year ahead to organize! anyone has ideas for jap club sessions ahead?

uhh there was astro speeches, which went ok bah. seriously that room was freezing. the aircon was blowing straight at us! >.<

and there's bridge comp on thurs. so much for a holiday ): i need to mug bridge but i have no time today. or tmr. ok imsodead.

bleh i need more than just 24 hours a day. i need like 100 hours a day nownownow!!

yeah congrats to rj girls for winning bowling again! and well congrats to acjc boys for being pros >.<

fried green elephants.

as you should know, i hate art. very much. but for once, i actually picked up an art pen(mouse?) and drew some pictures(with the mouse)! this shows how random i am T.T so treasure the following masterpieces.

i present you, classics of the year century! (yes my creations.)

ok intros. apparently there's some mnemonic created (by certain astro ppl) to rmb saturn's rings. as most of us should rmb, rg/rj ppl once came up with one rather convenient one to rmb by. XD

but nope today's not about that. it's about this new interesting one that involves -insert any D-name- Couldn't Buy A Fried Green Elephant.

eg. Dingdong Couldn't Buy A Fried Green Elephant. (D-C-B-A-F-G-E)

so i was inspired to illustrate the FGE as imagined by me, myself and i.

it's rather self-explanatory. ahhh the elephant is soooo cute! <3333

um anw my interpretation of being fried is being struck by lightning. the black frizzy stuff on its head is its poor three and only three hairs being fried. ):

and uh very exp ($$$!) is bcos Dingdong couldn't buy it. XP

then someone said that he had imagined it to be fried. like frying. so it inspired a second and improved version of the FGE!

FGE the 2nd!

uh i drew the fire bcos u need a fire to fry the pan, then u need a source for the fire, so i drew logs and it ended up as a bonfire. ^^" poor elephant is getting more fried now.

then the same someone decided he missed the lightning.

FGE the 3rd getting even more fried.

yeah so i drew two lightnings! now it looks a bit like a PAP supporter XD

appreciate the masterpieces! for you may never ever see one by cherica again. anw the elephant is either dead, or alive. up to your interpretation. (more like i couldn't decide whether to kill it or to leave it frying >.<)

p.s. just ignore the randomness of this post. i just felt i needed to put up these pics somewhere bcos it's just tooo cute! plus i hardly ever draw stuff, so such inspiration is rare.

p.s.s. just goes to show how free i am to be drawing random stuff like this. how i like to procrastinate. =P

p.s.s.s. credits to creators of the inspiring mnemonic (you know who you are), ms paint, my mouse, my computer screen, my index finger, my brain, my eyes, etc etc...

umm.

uhh there's a lot of things that's been happening these days that i don't know where to begin.

hmm like there's the ever-existing homework piling up. yeah i should be doing my math assignment now but i feel like blogging XP. ok after this shall be math. haha

yay my napfa is over and NO MORE 2.4 TILL NEXT YEAR! (i shall worry about that next year.)

happy belated birthday gl! and happy early birthday blaws! tmr's her bday, and also the day titanic sank. haha ok fine that's just something i rmbed from our sec 1 history birthday assignment.

my birthday, on the other hand...erhem the only significant thing that happened was something like sars quarantine has been lifted after dunno how many days of no new cases. how interesting. T.T

i signed up for inline skating as first choice for my pe electives, followed by archery and i can't rmb what. i was considering tennis, but i guess it's more fun to learn new stuff than er learn how to volley and smash all over again -.-" i probably would be getting my first or second choice i guess, since i got gold for napfa (yay!)

i do want sparring partners though. anyone who knows how to play tennis free for a game sometime?

ah yes and there was the lyrids star party. it's the first time i joined mpastro's afternoon activities. it's pretty dry actually, except that the movie was good. go watch! it's called contact. the boring lecture would have been fine if not for the kids getting bored and distracting me. ah yes the temasec sec kids i had to look after since weilin wasn't around till night. so yeah i was like multitasking, trying to pay attention to both sides at once and obviously missing out bits of the presentation T.T

oh yes that just reminded me, dlu is sooo mean. he abandoned us after pledging his time off for us! how cann like that? for mlm somemore. i alrd explicitly and inexplicitly mentioned my extreme dislike for mlm! im anti-mlm blahhh and he has to be so enthu about it somemore. ):

station games involved only one random game with us forming groups and getting blindfolded following some maze of strings. first to get to the end wins. er i have a feeling my group was last, but it's ok, the kids got first! haha good for them ^^

after which we had refreshments and er walked around waiting for the bus to arrive and fetch us to ecp.

hmm yeah e.w. left too, but at least he stayed till the end of afternoon activities as he promised. -glares at certain delusion- er yeah so we went off to ecp, and yay for clear skies! i must really thank helix for keeping me company till we met rj/rg ppl (: ok it's more of he had no other choice but yeah thanks anw haha. and yes i know you're reading this bcos apparently u read my blog. im pretty surprised haha.

it was a nice nightsky, probably bcos it rained in the afternoon so the clouds cleared up. we must thank weilin for all her groundsheets, which she later threw away. she's richhh. haha she brought like 3 groundsheets??

then we played night bridge, which was a first for me. it's pretty uncomfortable bcos u can't see your cards and i kept putting my cards in the wrong order, thinking the diamonds is hearts and clubs is spades. bleh. it was pretty fun though, considering my brain was pretty dead from lack of sleep and all.

then there was the treasure hunt which involved a lot of walking (and thinking? haha). i think we walked back and forth loads of times. there were riddles and stations we had to do, such as digging through ice, blindfolded and looking for a coin. it sounds easy, but it's really exasperating when your fingers get all numb and u can feel no difference between all the ice and stuff. and it was pretty painful.

and the riddles were so lame! i had no idea about them at all! i must say my mind capacity does not include enough lameness. stuff like
what has 4 wheels and flies? garbage truck. you know, flies?
what is the longest word in english? smiles, because there's a mile between the first and last letter
who is closer to you, your mom or your dad? mom, because your dad is father (farther)
-.-" lame right. i nv even heard of them b4 lahh.

ah well our group apparently got first this time, but we let the kids win bcos they were a close second and we didn't want any prizes. i think it was some namecard holder? i don't even have namecards T.T

hmm i saw like no lyrids meteors at all, bcos we were doing random stuff like walking from the site to 7-eleven and back and to macs and back again. one trip there and back takes around half an hour, so it's quite a good way to do exercise and waste while time away. hee. er no im not joking. XD

jovina didn't tell us ghost stories this time! bleh. but it's ok, i don't think she has any more ghost stories i don't know alrd. the kids kindof all fell asleep even though they wanted to stay up. they're so cute! haha

i don't regret going for lyrids even though i saw no meteors (except possibly a sporadic one but not sure so nvm). i saw quite a lot of stars and stuff through the telescopes and it's been sooo long since i looked through one. i mean properly with stuff to look at, not looking at random leaves outside rj in broad daylight. i like saturn best through the telescope, it's super cute! im sure blaws agrees.

i kindof missed the sunrise thanks to my half hour power nap from 6 to 6.30am XD but yeah it was a nice feeling to wake up to see the beautiful sky dawning upon u, and hearing your friends' voices around you. i kindof lagged a bit the moment i woke up bcos i was in shock that i actually fell asleep, and also bcos i was feeling safe and cuddly and warm. haha didn't want to get up >.<

we played H2O uno which lasted more than 40 minutes or something. that one game was really amazing, and helix had LOADS of cards. hahahaha like more than half of the whole deck. well at least he didn't get last, jp got last instead wahaha. i was saboing him with my greens and he kept saboing me with his yellows. i have no idea how the uno card distribution was so skewed, but yeah somehow i always lacked one particular colour that he has a lot of.

we then played games like heart attack and snap, which really gave me heart attack bcos i am terrible at them. XP that's why i prefer bridge or even big 2, bcos it's stuff i can actually win, unlike reflex games. and the games just made my hand hurt, which is really not desirable haha.

okok i really need to go do my math assignment like now now now! i think my account for lyrids this time is pretty incoherent to outsiders, bcos my train of thoughts is rather random. haha one whole night is too much to be compressed into one blog post so easily. there's much more to it than just what's been mentioned above, but it's for me to know, and nope you don't get to find out. (:

come join us in the end-of-year geminids, im sure it would be much more fruitful. though i must say that im pretty sian of staying up whole nights at star parties bcos i have done all those things b4 alrd, including counting meteors and stuff.

except bridge. i would never tire of bridge (:

happy april fool's

poisson d'avril tout le monde!'

im officially going out with Z. yep you didn't see wrongly. that's all i shall say for now.

hmm it's a sch-declared holiday today bcos of good a level results so we get an off-day. i don't really feel like blogging anymore these days, just not much inspiration. i love bei feng chui* (noted! ^^") guo de xia tian! it's so sweet...

i've been reading a lot of jostein gaarder books. they are really quite cool and inspiring, with lots of philosophical ideas in them. i feel alive, with such wonder at our very existence! sophie's world is rather philosophical but really boring. it's only the storyline structure that's really cool and interesting, but content-wise it's really all philo stuff. rather boring after a while, so unless u try and survive your way through to the end then u will be rewarded.

先苦后甜,是值得的。

u should try his other books as well, it's quite good. and i find that he's quite into astronomy as well, bcos almost all his books so far involves astronomy and the universe. this just shows the link between philosophy and astronomy <333

so HAPPY APRIL FOOL'S DAY! hope you don't get fooled!

p.s. no im not actually going out with anyone. if you were fooled, then POISSON D'AVRIL! XD if you weren't, good for you hee. keep the spirit of april fool's going!

thus far

today's the most unfortunate day of the year thus far.

for the first time in jc life, i feel sad, almost depressed, even. like really really sad emo kindof sad, not just one moment of unhappiness that passes over really quickly. it's like even though there's several things i can be happy about, there's still this weighing down of sadness on my shoulders, on my head, like a dark cloud hanging over me.

it's like, SADNESS + unhappy things > little happy things

what's more the rain is back. just to dampen more of my spirits.

sigh.

i should stop being so absent-minded these days.

march hols

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHIRL. BON ANNIVERSAIRE!!!

finally march holidays is here! the busy pace of jc life robbed me of precious sleep the past few weeks, with me walking around like a zombie...

and tada! i finally caught up with my lack of sleep! now im refreshed and almost ready to chiong again.

hmm i had jap club camp last last week, it was quite ok. i found out that my scream sounded really beautiful. ok that's T.T but it's true ok! i nv really got to hear my scream b4 ok!

council interview was quite ok, though i don't think i'll get through. i don't really mind if i don't get into council alrd lah, bcos im having quite a lot of fun in the ccas im in now, and i don't want to give up any of them...

i found out that njc council interviews are WAY WORSE, with a panel of 10 shooting and attacking you, trying to wear down your defences and see how you would manage the stress and to see your true character. they even asked some of them to do cheers, or sing the school song! or they put the chair far far away in a corner to see how you would react when u come in, or purposely put the chair facing the back etc. super scary lah.

they still have to go through some elect's camp, where they say if u survive it, u can survive anything alrd. it's to be mentally, emotionally, and physically draining. heh.

our council interview was like just 2 ppl, one person asking and the other furiously taking down your responses. it was pretty ok and the atmosphere wasn't tense or anything. my interviewer was the bb house captain! she's very nice and smiling all the time. i still like our council better. ^^

oh yeah jap club end of term 1 celebrations have finally come to a close. it was successful, and i want to thank the rest of the committee for your efforts in making this a fun and enjoyable celebration! i made new friends, learnt new things about you all and i had great fun, even during the down periods of tests and busyness, and even when we just couldn't meet up. jap cluc committee <333!

i had flag day ytd, and i earned a lot got a lot of ppl to donate! it was super tiring though, i was on my feet for over 7 and a half hours, bcos i took the full shift from 9am to 5pm, and i totally nv sit at all. it's unbelievable that i didn't realise how tired i was until like towards the end. just couldn't take it le.

but i learnt that rj ppl are really rich, like most of them donated all their change, over a dollar plus oso donate. then some of them just donated 2 dollar notes! and there was this prc guy who was blur blur asking me how much he needs to donate, then i told him any amount is fine, so he opened his wallet, took out the smallest note he had and asked, 这样够不够? i was like O.O it's a FIVE DOLLAR NOTE. obviously i said 不够要捐十块才够 eh actually i said nothing. i looked at the note, stunned, and just looked at him and said thank you!!!!

just shows how rich some ppl are, or more like how they are so willing and able to donate.

the most i got was $10! from this businessman guy, and i got another $10 from a smoking guy. i was super amazed both times. yiy ang got $10 from this woman who got off the bus! haha i realised that singaporeans have become more willing to donate from 2 years ago when i last did flag day. last time ppl tended to give 10 or 20 cents, but this time ppl tended to give 50 cents or 1 dollar. some ppl simply emptied all their change!

at the end of the day, i reaped great rewards for my active soliciting of donations: two full tins! i almost dieded by the weight of carrying the heavy tin constantly, nv once putting it down ok! now my arms are aching, but nvm it was good training for ipu =P

next sat im doing flag day again T.T (don't ask. my class cip rep asked us so we signed up. bleh) and i think i shall go to different places this time. and i shall just stand there and stone and see how much i can get from doing that. then compare! heh this is called social experiment (:

next up it's astrigue challenge! it's to be this coming tues and wed, so im looking forward to it. let's make it fun k? may success be with us!

plus good luck to you poor j2s out there mugging your brains out for CTs.

plus i just realised ct can stand for so many things, like civics tutorial, civics teacher, common tests, chinatown (ok this is random ^^")

updates

i just realised i didn't blog for quite a while. o.o been pretty busy these days. of course, astrigue convention is over, i feel it's pretty ok, and i've made quite a lot of new friends, so that's good. ^^ i hope we'll have an even greater time together at the challenge! ah and of course good luck to our juniors, im sure u can do well in the challenge! (:

yeah and lots of busy days past, like sushi party (yum yum we had fun ne? esp the cosplaying hee), vday (yay i have a total of at least 20 presents, which is a record in itself!!!!), take 5 (hurray for "whatever", we won amazing race!), class outing after take 5 (we should have gone to the bicycle shop further up at the horses area T.T) etc etc.

and there's upcoming busy days in sight, like jap camp coming up this weekend, with council interview and stuff.

today o level posting results were out, and our dear (ex-)classmate didn't come to school today!!! i wanted to give her something as farewell...awww... as of tomorrow, she's an ex-classmate. we've been classmates for less than 2 months. ):

bleh nvm. at least we've been classmates b4 at all. that we've even met and known each other, made friends with each other and gone out together are really quite amazing things in themselves. so we should learn to take things as they come, appreciate the times we have together and treasure them as precious memories.

nvm we'll be having class outing cum dinner cum farewell for her on sunday! so i can give her my farewell present for her

similarly for ogmate who's leaving us, we'll be having bday party cum farewell for him on march 6 (tentatively).

ah and of course, there's the upcoming lecture tests and tutorial tests next week T.T part and parcel of school life.

then again, there's orientation 2 to look forward to on thursday!

whee...poor blaws though. don't worry, maybe he's found another victim, so u'll be all right, yeah? i hope everyone has fun!

happy chinese new year!

as we welcome the year of the rat, happy chinese new year everyone!

the festive season is once again here, and i can dump all thoughts of jc and work aside and enjoy (the wondrous feast and free flow of food and drinks woohoo!) not forgetting all the ang paos we'll be getting! yay im totally in holiday mood alrd (:

ahh...and yes valentine's friendship day is upcoming and just round the corner! im sure there are ppl who are looking forward to it, and there are plenty more who are dreading it ^^ but i think you should look forward to it, bcos i am (: you'll know why on that day hee. plus take 5 to look forward to!

okok err i wanted to blog about something else but i totally forgot now. so yeah nvm. im reading sophie's world! it's all philosophical and odd but oh well, i suppose it'll be good. hmm and yeah rj's library collection is rather extensive. and bigger than rgs'.

oh yeah i met up with my pri sch frens on cny eve. we caught up with each other a bit, and it was pretty nice talking and relaxing, with the festive mood all around.

6L'03 (: [part of]

i feel so old now.

aftermath of o level results

everytime it gets to the chorus, i feel like im getting teary. thanks to wonderful og/o'nite memories...

o level results out alrd! i got A2 so im pretty happy with it, esp since i know i screwed up my essay so im glad i didn't get B or anything worse >.< congrats to all else who did well, and cheer up to all those who's disappointed.

no matter what you got, it's the best you could have done, and there's nothing else you can do about it anymore. just look ahead and move on, and keep on doing your best for the future.

i think im pretty much ok with my class now, but i wonder if we'll ever get closer than that... it's like we're pretty much stagnating at this certain level, and there's an invisible barrier which we have to break through b4 we can get more bonded.

perhaps after the 2nd intake? bcos i think there may be ppl coming in to join our class and i hope no one leaves the class anymore...one person alrd can't stay with the class le.

as for my og, i think one person isn't staying either...sigh.that's the cruel reality of being in a premier jc.

but don't you worry, i won't ever forget any of you as far as possible (what with my short term memory it may be challenging for me but i'll do my best T.T) so don't forget about me k? these past weeks we've spent together have been far too short, and rmb, you'll always be part of t'estosterone BW-04, or class 09S06T, no matter where all of you go.

well on a brighter note, i hope to make new frens and learn more about my classmates and ogmates together with the 2nd intake ppl! ^^

oh yeah im running for council. i decided it will be a whole new experience, and if i don't try now, when? i do hope i'll be able to get in, then i'll be able to learn a lot more about myself and about others.

-hugs- to all who need them. whether it's about academic results, or about personal matters, or relationships, or just for your birthday. everyone deserves a hug in one way or another, so yeah, a big HUG to all of you! (:

always remember this:

maybe we will drift apart,
but promise you my friend,
left you a space in my heart.

clash of the titans clubs

obviously im not going to blog about random rumours that aren't true, it's just that there are some ppl in my class who like to have some fun and entertainment in their mugger lives and so come up with odd speculations and just so happens that im the victim so yeah.

KAI-per's Belt, it's all your fault! i shall kill u the next time i see u. to think i so nice play the ballade pour adeline thingy for you then u do this to me!!!

and blaws and qw too! gahh. fake cheri can also be prepared to be killed torturously if you ppl harp on it. -glares-

anw back to the point, hmm jc life is super hectic and loads of work to be done, and all the sessions i've been going for are pretty ok. but now i think bridge club clashes with jap club, so how? T.T dunno what i should do then...both are pretty fun, and bridge club can learn how to own win ppl at contract bridge, while jap club can learn more jap stuff and culture!

but oh well very few ppl know how to play contract bridge anw, so even if i can own win ppl, others don't know how to play so not that much use. T.T

the good thing is it's the only time we can play cards in school. so i don't intend to quit ^^"

jap club is the only time i can slack and relax and have fun, so i don't intend to quit either!

so if they clash...how?

blah

ok thanks to popular demand of only one person i decided to blog. even though i don't have much inspiration whatsoever...

oh yah im super happy today! i actually did something i nv expected i could do: i gave up my seat to this elderly man on the mrt! he came on and was looking for a seat, holding lots of stuff, so i stood up. there was no hesitation or a single thought at all. i was amazed.

i highly suspect that if i actually hesitated or thought of how tired i was, i would have done what the student development guy said, "everyone look down and pretend to sleep". anw i felt GREAT after giving up my seat. it's like I'VE DONE A WONDERFUL THING TODAY! ^^

it's amazing such little things can actually make your day.

anw i've gone for french connection and astro and jap club sessions so far. im sure joining astro, jap club no plans of quitting yet, french x not sure yet bcos my lessons end late on friday, and i would only have like 40 minutes to go for french x? which is SAD. i wonder when bridge is going to contact us. if it clashes with astro, i guess i'll have to drop it. sigh.

bio soc not joining bah, alchemy i don't think im joining either, but im going for the session tmr anw. anw i've signed up for the science enrichment module on perfume chemistry! it's bcos my fren wanted me to join her, plus im free enough anw. and it sounds fun. =P i hope it is fun and useful enough.

tmr we're celebrating the january babies' birthdays in our class! i went to buy the cake just now with ct rep. bleh dunno if it's nice oso.

hmm and jap club was pretty ok, i won myself chocolates instead of forfeit! we were playing pass the parcel and after a few rounds of ppl getting forfeits, there was this music that happened to be called "love and joy", and it stopped when i got the parcel. i thought i got a forfeit too -horror-, but i unwrap it and i realise it's the last layer. i got the gift! whee. as the jap club guy said, "so you see, not all forfeits are bad right?"

oh and anyone interested in forming study groups? i think fly wants to form a study group in our og to mug physics or something (dunno why) and i've got a classmate who wants to study together. hmm. though i have no idea why ppl in my class and many ppl i know are so enthu about mugging.

there's still like 1 year and months months months away from a levels, and 2nd intake not even here yet! and ppl want study groups T.T

hence im now influenced and joining these ppl to become enthu about mugging as well. after all, it's one of the few things i can do -well- in. hmm actually it's the only thing i can do well in.

wait no, i can't even do well in mugging!

im such a sad case.

there's still loads for me to look forward to and to dread, like astro j1 induction session on fri for the former, and pracs and tutorials and lectures and mugging for the latter.

wow the imbalance is so obvious.

p.s. i hope this satisfies your curiosity of what's been going on in my life so far -directed at the one enthu reader who "inspired" me to blog-

back to rgs

nope, im not like retained or anything in rgs -.-", i just went back to rg today with blaws and qw. mean qw made us wait downstairs for ages! in the stifling hot room even though it was raining outside! T.T

saw a few co juniors, but it was pretty much the same, just some classrooms had new tables and chairs, my class has new ppl taking it and my ex-locker (haha i made that up!) is still empty. hmm i don't feel that much for rg anymore lah, im more of looking forward to rj, i think it's bcos what really kept me to rg was the ppl in there. now all the ppl are over at rj, so there's nothing much left at rg except for my juniors and scitare.

anw i realised that im really enthu these days. it must be the feeling of being a junior again, and knowing there's not that much chances in the future to be so enthu T.T in fact, im starting to surprise myself o.o im like so active every morning, i just feel odd sitting still. i keep fidgeting about lehh

i feel like jumping around and dancing to random music, and doing stupid stuff like sing ppg songs while squishing blaws. =P

once mundane sch life kicks in, i guess i will probably become less enthu and start going back to being the "quiet girl who should participate more actively". bleh.

at least i know i can be enthu if i want to.

orientation is officially over ):

im sad.

read post title, and you'll understand why.

sigh i feel sad that orientation is so short and over in a blink of an eye. it's really the best orientation i've ever been to, a lot of work and effort put in by the student council, all ogls and house d, and all of us j1s too

and here i have a love confession to make:

I LOVE MY OG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

everyone in my og is nice, and it's really rare that i find myself in a group where i like EVERYONE! i hope we'll stay together even though orientation is over and everything.

as for my class, it's 09S06T, subject combi pcme. congrats blaws and qw and the rest for getting into ki! i knew u all could do it (: -HUGS-

i don't know my class well yet, but i hope there will be more opportunities for us to bond. currently everyone is pretty much in cliques, esp the guys (!!!!) and they don't seem to have much initiative to get to know others better. i don't believe that they are really that shy. -glares-

it's pretty embarrassing for me to go around asking guys for their names and stuff u know! but ok lah i guess it should be pretty much worth it -i hope-

hmm so far i don't know all of my classmates yet, there's this bunch of ri guys that i don't know their names at all, and another bunch whose names i can't quite rmb (since it's all chinese names, it's really difficult to rmb)

all the girls can rmb le, and a few guys yeah. hope my class turns out to be as nice as my og, or even better. -wishes upon one of the shooting stars that seen at geminids ^^-

so far the meteor wishes have been pretty much accurate...(except for the one where we wished for thousands and thousands of meteors to appear b4 our eyes =P) so good luck to me!

and good luck to all of you too, all the best with your classes and ogs (if you're j1s) and in your studies (for j2s)! (:

most memorable finale ever.

orientation' 08 t'sparanza

so far orientation has been pretty fun!

my og is really nice, BW-04! haha name of the og? don't tell u, go find out yourself ^^ it's pretty weird anw...

yepp i love my ogls! and my og! and we've had some fun together -nods-

especially batch dance, it's very fun! look at it!

look at 2:37, the guy in the middle (3rd from left) is one of my ogls! hahaha he's in song and dance and he's really small and cute! blaws will love bullying him ^^"

the second part, the love story bit is cute, the third bit is even cuter! esp when the music goes "AHHHHHHHHHHHH" we all drown! haha

and the dj part we all act as djs shuffling the music! so fun! the last part the house moves! -ROARRRRRRRRRR-

even though it's dancing with a guy, my partner's pretty enthu and stuff, and the dance is fun, so im happy with it ^^

poor blaws seems to be stalked by someone from her og...-patpat- wish her luck! i'll try to talk to u as much as possible if i see u around being stalked by that someone (:

anw it's like the first time i stay outside so late everyday. first day of orientation, reach home 9+pm, 2nd day reach home 10.15pm, 3rd day reach home 10.45pm, wonder what time i'll reach home on monday huh...

well it makes me feel grown-up and independent...but it can be really tiring and mentally taxing, with all the lack of sleep and stuff. but not really physical tiring as in muscle aches lah ok! -looks pointedly at blaws- it's fun so i guess it's worth it.

sigh orientation ending le, monday last day. i'll miss everyone in my og...bleh ):

happy new year 2008

Happy New Year 2008! it's a new year and a new beginning, and jc and loads to look forward to ^^

wishing for a great year ahead and everything to go smoothly for not just me, but my family and friends around me!

anw i just found a really nice french song on youtube, part of the lion king songs but in french.

it's called une famille (a family). i dedicate it to all and my family. (: lyrics are below (in french)

Les Paroles:

(simba)

(Refrain)
Une famille, Une famille nous formons (2x)

(Kiara)
Pourquoi changer toute ma vie
Je veux rester ainsi
Tout comme je suis
Mon cœur pourrait me guider
Je ne peux l'écouter
Que de penser

(simba)
Ceux qui ne sont plus là
Marche avec nous vers la voix
Un nouveau jour se lève pour toi
Larme de peine larme de joie
Il n'y a qu'une seule chose qui mène
La fierté car nous sommes
Une famille

(Refrain)
Une famille, Une famille nous formons (2x)

(simba)
Comme le ciel et la terre
Nous sommes tout de solidaire
Une famille qui suit la lumière
La sagesse, le courage
Sont pour toi tes seuls bagages
Car nous sommes pour toujours

clearing out

i spent the WHOLE day clearing out my sec sch stuff today. i thought it would just take the morning, but i was wrong. i finished at like 6.30pm? T.T

by then i was suffering from headache and backache liao.

look at the amount of papers and notes and worksheets im throwing i mean recycling. ^^"

it measured up to...

about 20 cm in height.

it's a record k! usually the stuff i throw is only half the height! amazing how much more notes u get in upper sec O.o

yeah in general it was pretty messy, but i feel accomplished when i managed to clear all of it. ^^

ok it's still rather messy but there's too many files and books that i don't want to throw! and most of the thick files there are empty! so yah i can reuse them for next yr ^^ save money!

anw it's much better than b4 le lah, and if im not complaining, y should you? it's my cupboard after all (:

geminids' 07

one of the best meteor watches of the year - geminids meteors.

indeed, it was significantly better than orionids, but part of the reason was also bcos we were at a darker place than ecp, and the islands across the sea weren't as bright as whatever land it was across ecp ^^ yepp so less light pollution, we could see more stars! and more meteors...

also, we spent most of the night meteor-watching, whereas on orionids night, we spent most of the night doing erhem interesting activities.

yeah changi beach park was really uncomfortable though! it's full of sand at the beach, and the sea tide kept rising so we had to keep moving to higher ground and it's just so scary to be watching for meteors and all of a sudden, this fishy stinky smell gets really strong and u sit up, to find yourself surrounded by water! AHHH!

ok just jk, the last bit wasn't true, but u sit up, to find yourself suddenly 2 metres from the water! and the tide advancing eerily towards you threatening to swallow you and make you wet and dirtier than you alrd were!

oh and the wind was really strong, and it was colder than it was at the orionids. hmm and we didn't see any perverts. blaws was convinced that the ppl at changi village were trans though. im uh neutral.

oh but we do know that there are ppl who LIVE at cbp, outside the toilet there were quite a lot of big tents and bashas well-equipped for sleep, and ppl who were bathing and BRUSHING TEETH in the toilet. haha but the soap made the toilet smell infinitely better, so i don't mind.

now i know why perverts don't dare to reside in the female toilet. for one, they may end up falling asleep and there would still be no one. (it's so ulu after all haha) also, the toilet stinks so much and it's really dirty, so im sure perverts will faint of the stink b4 they even last an hour in there. HEH.

anyway back to the main point. the meteors! we saw 60! i thought i saw a few more, but im really not sure, bcos it was like 5am alrd, and i hadn't even slept a wink, plus i slept really late the night b4, so i was tired beat. practically spacing out and almost falling asleep then. haha i think that was the worst time, esp since we didn't go night cycling or anything, it was really difficult to last through that last hour. but well, we did anyway.

so yeah i thought i saw a few flashing by, but im really not sure. they're so faint and short and fast that i thought i might have been hallucinating. it might have been someone's light flashing by or something? anw it may have really been meteors, just that it was the light pollution that made them so faint, so yeah. maybe they were meteors. but im not counting them anyway, bcos they are so lousy and faint and not nice at all.

so yeah 60 meteors, out of which about 10+ which were REALLY NICE. there were 2 greenish ones i rmb, with silver tails, and some which were silver in colour and streaked across really SLOWLY! as in they lasted for at least 3 seconds! one even up to 5 seconds! all the way across! and they were really nice and big! especially the two golden ones i saw. those were the best. such a bright yellowish gold, big and fat and nicely streaking across to my right, around 3 seconds. LOVELY.

these were really better than those at orionids. i only saw 1 that was really nice then, and that was the first meteor T.T so i do conclude that, geminids was indeed one of the best watches.

i saw the big dipper for the first time! coolness.

and there were planes taking off constantly in the middle of the night. really big and noisy and ppl kept joking that there were several big man-made meteors that moved really slowly. lameness.

sigh. but really, singapore too bright le. it's not a good place for meteor-watching or star-gazing. it was really irritating that we could only see tiny streaks of meteors when i knew they could have been big and magnificent in darker areas. but i guess it would be too dangerous if they turned off all the lights. but when ur eyes adapt to the dark, u find that the sky is still too bright. u can't see a lot of the stars!

oh yeah and it was pretty cloudy a few times, but im glad it didn't rain! hurray! i think it had something to do with the sea breeze thing, bcos the clouds would all eventually get blown away by the winds haha and we can have our clear sky back. but when clouds cover the view, we just sit up and chat and play random card games like uno and bridge.

and we learnt quite a surprising aspect of deut-fluoride's life. o.o

ah well. i suppose his emoness should be significantly lessened now. good for him.

it's been a pretty great night, though it could have been better. we practically daoed bp and ri and whatever other ppl there were, except for rj. if jovina were there, she would have gone socialising happily. it seems to be a skill that all of us are really lacking in. =P

i mean, how do you socialise in the middle of the night and not disturb other ppl's sleep/meteor-watching??? esp when u can't quite tell who is who in the dark lighting unless u go really close to them, and it's pretty odd to get so close to random guys u don't even know, in the middle of the night!

we were pretty much the only girls around, plus a 3 or 4 others. the rest were mostly guys.

i think the next time i go meteor-watching, i would want to go to some ulu island to watch for it, and not in brightly lit singapore.

i made wishes for the first 22 of the meteors, but i ran out of wishes to wish for specifically. i mean, how to think of so many wishes in such a short time in the middle of the night in the middle of nowhere! so yeah i just gave up and simply counted the meteors.

i think all of you should try star-gazing and meteor-watching at least once in a lifetime. it really made me feel closer to nature in the quiet surroundings, lying on my back, looking up to the skies. it feels as though im closer to the stars just by being able to look at them. like we're insignificant beings in the face of the grand universe, and so it's simply worth it to be able to just get closer to the truth of our world, and that is, that we're simply one planet in the middle of millions and millions of glaxies and stars and planets.

once u realise that, it feels as though my life has been fulfilled and it doesn't matter if we're gone and wiped out, because the stars will keep on shining and the planets will keep on spinning even if we're gone. that's the impact that mankind has on nature.

p.s. plus wishing upon a shooting star is really romantic! for all u know, it may come true. ^^ im going to see if my wishes will come true...

You scored as Postmodernist

Postmodernism is the belief in complete open interpretation. You see the universe as a collection of information with varying ways of putting it together. There is no absolute truth for you; even the most hardened facts are open to interpretation. Meaning relies on context and even the language you use to describe things should be subject to analysis.

les vacances

sont très ennuyeuses. je m'ennuie à mourir. T.T (yes it's correct i found it in the dictionnaire earlier aujourd'hui. trop de studying makes me go fringlish. T.T)

tmr going to send sk off...will miss her bah? maybe sometimes but now im pretty much in a bad mood so i won't miss her that much. HMPH she was supposed to have a quiet little farewell lunch avec moi et a few of ses amies ET MAINTENANT!? WHAT'S HAPPENED? now she's like not eating with us anymore, and dunno eating with her cca and then now there's the class involved as well. JE NE COMPRENDS PAS. hmph.

je suis un peu jalouse. et un peu en colère.

ce n'est pas juste.

anw now it's like mugging everyday for french delf, and i can't wait for it to be over. im just dying slowly in this place. it's like i mug half an hour then i will run out and slack. then i will die of boredom then i go back grudgingly to mug. mug another half hour i run out and try to slack again. cycle repeats. c'est ma vie maintenant. c'est terrible, non?

oh well and when i do want to study for french, my mum brings me out and stuff. my progress is REALLY slow maintenant, it's like only sec 1 and half of sec 2 stuff covered. there's still sec 3 and 4 and the files? and the textbooks? and the exercises im going to practise??? how to finish.

i still have a few events coming up too, like the charity dance concert im attending on sunday. OH AND rainie yang is coming to singapore! i have a good mind to attend her autograph session on dec 2...anyone interested? we can go together...(doubt anyone is interested anw) ^^"

okok now im dying of boredom, and i shall go back grudgingly to mug again. i guess i'll post again perhaps after delf. may lady luck smile upon me. i really have to pass that test lehh....

farewell alma mater 2007

here's the long-awaited post on farewell alma mater (FAM) 2007! (at least i hope it's LONG-AWAITED) it's also known as prom night, or grad night, or batch dinner whatever u get the idea. it was held at meritus mandarin hotel on the 12th november.

supposed to be there 6.15pm and seated by 6.30pm. i was running late and going to reach at 6.30pm and i was so worried that everyone would really be SEATED by then. and i would enter alone and unwelcome, (u know those grand entrance, then all the ppl turn and stare at u as u turn red and flustered finding ur table >.<)

well in the end everyone was still hanging around the lobby of meritus mandarin (phew), and also the lobby outside the ballroom on 4th floor. so not late! in fact, it started at around...7.45pm? heh the mc saying "the programme is a little bit delayed" is totally understatement of the century. ^^"

so, what were we doing from 6.30pm to 7.45pm?

notice the many ppl behind us? everyone's kindof milling around and taking pictures with random ppl

can see more random ppl actually moving by behind us. me and os! (os apparently chose her lavender one instead. ^^")

me and geri! geri so cute righttt

then we moved into the ballroom. (and we were first few there, so nothing to do, what else?)

the table i was at. table 46 violan to be exact. since we were early in there, empty table for us. btw, dazzle's the theme for our FAM.

look at the difference with flash! the place is rather darkly-lit so if u don't use flash rather blurry. u use flash? super sharp, but it looks like the area around it is super dark...different atmosphere?

doorgift was a birthday bear. i got some march one, so i went around searching for my month's and got a july!

poor bear looks like it's being kidnapped...

and bundled up...

sad and lonely. dunno why they wan put a black tie thingy around its neck too. poor thing...

so SMILE!

vast difference from the smiley keychain we got along with the bear!

the stage.

acid rush and 414 from our sch performed some singing and playing, not too bad, esp 414's harmonising. a bit like pseudonym, since some of the pseudonym ppl were in it...

oh and RJC's street dance performed too! not too bad, esp some of them were quite good. however a few looked out of place and uncomfortable. =P not bad lah...

videos here

videos there

and televisions for ppl who can't see from the back. ^^" acid rush performing "she will be loved". i think.

btw this has NOT been edited.

seriously this picture should have been impossible to be captured on film. what's that weird effect thingy! we were laughing at something can't rmb what.

psst! BLAWS IS WEARING A DRESS AND MAKE-UP! spaghetti strap dress! unfortunately she too shy to show off her shoulders in the picture. T.T

highlight of the night, miss farewell alma mater competition. one person from each class has been nominated months ago, and they would be vying for the title of Miss FAM 2007! ah well they cat-walked down the aisle individually, quite scary for them bah, bcos everyone was staring at them and gossiping about how stick-thin she looks! or how she looks so pretty! her dress is tailor-made u know! wah that dress is beeeauuutifull! etc etc

then they each performed something of their own, mostly singing and dancing, some magic tricks, and toe did some waitor-miming act ^^ joyce did some snake piping thingy? grace zhang FUNNIEST LAH her lame jokes and "magic" that was so obviously fake! and the poem she made up! it all rhymes and was sooo funny! wonder how long she actually took to do that. i thought she should have won miss FAM that night. she was really quite good...

then came the question and answer session. each contestant picks a question at random, and they have to answer lor. haha like beauty pageant. then the questions were actually asked by teachers recorded on video-tape! quite creative. can't quite rmb the responses..this girl picked a qn about would u go for plastic surgery or not, and why. she started giving evidence to support her answer, like ss or english essay T.T she was talking about how there's some woman in the us, then everyone was like WAHHHH so pro can rmb! haha but her response quite PC.

then some ppl gave random examples from their daily lives to support their answer, like joyce said something about her falling down while hurrying to the canteen in p5. she said it taught her "more haste, less speed", so she must be careful next time. haha sounded like something she crapped up.

in the end Miss FAM 2007 was zhen er, she performed some pokemon theme song about heroes, and got her whole class up front to shout as fans -.-" then for qn and ans she was asked, if you have to choose between harry potter and frodo, who would you marry, and why. her reply: "harry potter. because frodo has HAIRY FEET. i don't want hairy feet IN MY BED. oh no. NO NO." everyone burst into spluttering laughter.

she quite funny lah.

my class' contestant was macey, i think she was rather nervous that's y she didn't project her voice better during the singing, then her answering also a bit odd. but not bad lah, she got Miss Personality! haha quite suited her. anw all of the contestants got some title so they wouldn't feel left-out. ^^"

lucky draw time, no one from our table won anything. huiwen and chels were like "ME ME! PICK ME! PICK ME!" in the end they compromised and went "you take 1st i take 2nd ok?" in the end both didn't win anything haha. i told them next time they should try reverse, that means go "NOT ME! NOT ME! I DON'T WAN TO WIN!" then they will win lor. might work, u nv know.

btw, bored by all that text? Nanao Ise actually appeared at my table! in fact, she was sitting right across from me. for the unaware, nanao is an anime character from bleach. this is how she looks like.

and this is her at my table.

nanao ise, lieutenant of 8th division, soul society, eating.

aiya SORRY LAH but she refused to be caught on camera with her specs on, so i had to resort to taking her when she was eating! haha so she doesn't look very glam or anything. everyone was struggling to eat and drink without smudging lipstick/makeup so funny haha. glad i didn't put lipstick or much makeup ^^

personally, i felt the prettiest girl that night was her. she looked so elegant in her all-black outfit, she should have been Miss Elegant haha. well she's miss elegant in my heart, so that's what matters. LOVE YOU JESSIE! you so cute! she can look so shuai4 and so pretty at two different occasions. so amazingly rare!

FAM that night wasn't really much, but it serves as a closure to our RGS journey. we can 收拾好心情 and 勇往直前 towards the beginning of our RJC journey. i learnt that trying to self-take pictures with the camera is NOT easy at all. the only ppl who have mastered the skill is shiao and cheryllynn. HAHA they are like come come take picture! -holds camera, smile, blink and it's over, perfectly in the center-

me, yuling and eileen have been trying it since end of exams, but we always fail miserably. one of us would either be cut in half out of the picture, or it's off-center, or all three of us not in the frame. well yuling is the better one of us though, at least our faces all somewhat inside HAHA. eh well whatever this is side tracking.

erhem. yes FAM holds many of our memories, and with this, i can proudly say I have graduated from the portals of RGS! Farewell, my Alma Mater!

p.s. blaws if u wan pictures from me email me/msn me. send me the pictures u have also, esp the last 2 photos. (:

a joke

One day, the phone rang, and a little boy answered.

"May I speak to your parents?"
"They're busy."
"Oh. Is anybody else there?"
"The police."
"Can I speak to them?"
"They're busy."
"Oh. Is anybody else there?"
"The firemen."
"Can I speak to them?"
"They're busy."

"So let me get this straight -- your parents, the police, and the firemen are there, but they're all busy? What are they doing?"

"Lookin for me."
haha.

interesting read

A mother enters her daughter's bedroom and sees a letter over the bed

With the worst premonition, she reads it with trembling hands:

Dear Mom,

It is with great regret and sorrow that I'm telling you that I eloped with my new boyfriend.

I found real passion and he is so nice, with all his piercing and tattoos and his big motorcycle.

But it's not only that mom, I'm pregnant and Ahmed said that we will be very happy in his trailer in the woods. He wants to have many more children with me and that's one of my dreams. I've learned that marijuana doesn't hurt anyone and we'll be growing it for us and his friends, who are providing us with all the cocaine and ecstasies we may want. In the meantime, we'll pray for science to find the AIDS cure, for Ahmed to get better, he deserves it.

Don't worry Mom, I'm 15 years old now and I know how to take care of myself.

Some day I'll visit for you to know your grandchildren.

Your daughter, Judith

PS: Mom, it's not true. I'm at the neighbor's house. I just wanted to show you that there are worse things in life than the report card that's in my desk drawer...

I love you!
haha found it so interesting and irresistable so have a good laugh at that! source: gillian's blog ^^

My Colorgenics results. a bit exaggerated but certainly have experienced the below-mentioned b4. accurate in some parts, too. and actually im really tired doing this bcos i wanted to go sleep quickly so yeah might have affected the results too heh?

You have always longed for tenderness, love and a sensitivity of feeling into which you would like to blend. You are a very gentle warm person and responsive to 'All things bright and beautiful'. This personifies a caring person, a person who 'needs' and indeed 'needs to be needed'.

You are finding the present situation extremely demanding and you're having difficulty coping with it. A great deal of strain is involved and you would really like everyone and everything to leave you alone for a while, just so that you can put everything into perspective.

You feel tired - worn out and listless. The last thing that you want to do is to be in an open conflict with those around you that are forever tormenting you. What to do? That's the rub. You are feeling that you are being choked - unable to breathe.

Matters have not gone well for you. You are experiencing severe stress trying to guard yourself from further disappointments. It would seem that all of your hopes and dreams have not been realised and you are now beginning to doubt yourself. You no longer wish to be further advised by anyone and you insist on going it alone - to control your own destiny. Even though deep down you doubt whether things will get better in the future you have one consolation - and that is that they couldn't possibly get worse. Unwilling to give up anything that you possess, you are looking for some sort of security as a protection against any further setback or loss of position and prestige. You are so negative that you tend to exaggerate your problems and refuse to accept any advice from so called well-meaning friends.

Since in the recent past all of your hopes and aspirations have been denied you, you are now convinced that the future will hold nothing but anxiety so therefore 'why bother?' You would love to get away from it all, to escape from the trials and tribulations of this mundane existence and fall into a peaceful and harmonious relationship, which will protect you from the lack of appreciation and give you the chance to start afresh.
quite cool. go on and try it yourself!
